Date Filtering Explained
Within Strum Platform's Filter Engine, users are able to filter on a variety of field types, including date fields. Date fields have many filtering options to allow users to analyze and target specifically on date ranges (using the calendar type date filters) or using relative date filters to create more dynamic filters for continued analysis or marketing automations. This article will provide more details around how the calendar and relative filter options work.
Date Filtering - Calendar options
Below are the examples of the Calendar-based filtering options inside the filter engine.
These calendar filter options provide users the ability to create a range of dates, or use 'Before', 'After' or 'On' to filter for accounts, members or households. Calendar date filtering doesn't take into account the data period the user is in and is performed by simply filtering by the calendar date range input by the user, regardless of time period. See example below.
Date Filtering - Relative options
Relative Date Filtering empowers users with heightened flexibility and efficiency when analyzing or targeting Account, Member, and Household date elements by dynamically calculating the # of days/weeks/months/years from the data period date, or today's date (when the user is in the 'As of..' data period). Below are the examples of the Relative date filtering options inside the filter engine.
Users can tailor the language to their unique needs using dropdown menus, allowing them to refine their perspective. These dropdown options include:
- Time Span: Users can select from options such as Days, Weeks, Months, or Years to indicate the duration.
- Perspective: Choose between Until for a forward-looking viewpoint or Since for a retrospective one.
- Range: Select from Less than, More than, or Equal to to define the time span without specifying a minimum or maximum.
These newly introduced relative filtering options enhance comprehensive analysis and targeting across different time frames, streamlining marketing automation processes. The following guide further explains how relative date filters operate and calculate, whether during a month-end period or based on the "As of" data period.
